
Join Health Quality Innovators and their special guest speaker Kimberly Varney Gill, Pharm.D., Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Endocrinology and Associate Professor of Pharmacy with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health System as they discuss the importance of addressing hypoglycemic adverse drug events (ADEs) for both the patient and the hospital. This webinar focused on sharing effective approaches to recognize the symptoms of hypoglycemia, identify patient risk factors, develop a task force, implement best practices and monitor data so that patient harms can be avoided. Kimberly Varney provided an overview of VCU’s treatment protocol showcasing the EPIC EHR and how it has impacted current practices. In addition, HQI also shared challenges and solutions from other hospitals, with an emphasis on small and rural facilities.
