Merit-based Incentive Payment System

The Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) is one of two tracks under CMS’s Quality Payment Program. MIPS allows eligible clinicians to receive a performance-based Medicare payment adjustment based upon how clinicians report evidence-based and practice-specific clinical quality data. To be eligible for the payment, eligible clinicians must demonstrate that they provided high quality, efficient care supported by technology.
