Teach-Back Customizable Toolkit

This resource, developed by Great Plains Quality Innovation Network (QIN), was created to educate health care providers and their teams about the teach-back method. The teach-back method ensures patients understand what they need to know or do regarding their health by asking them to state in their own words what a provider has told them they need to know or do. Many of these documents can be modified to the fit the needs of an individual provider or care team.

Implementing the National CLAS Standards Toolkit

The purpose of this toolkit, developed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is to enable organizations to implement the National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Standards (CLAS) and improve health equity. It is organized according to the enhanced National CLAS Standards, and provides practical tools and examples of CLAS, in addition to efforts to implement the National CLAS Standards that can be adapted for use by health care organizations.

Superior Health’s Shine a Light on Stigma Campaign Highlights the Importance of Person-Centered Language to Improve Substance Use Disorder Treatment

Health care professionals have made great strides to improve treatment for individuals with substance use disorder (SUD). These include developing screening tools and implementing workflows to identify patients who need treatment. Other strategies include increasing the availability of treatment, adding recovery coaches and creating peer support groups to help guide patients to this care. Despite these improvements, only 1 in 10 people with SUD receives treatment.
