This Back to Baseline and Beyond webinar series developed by Superior Health Quality Alliance for health care providers discusses the most recent vaccine recommendations for influenza, pneumococcal and COVID-19.  Prior to COVID-19, an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 adults in the United States died from vaccine-preventable infectious diseases or their complications each year. Influenza, pneumococcal pneumonia and now COVID-19 are among those vaccine-preventable infectious diseases.

In this series of Back to Baseline and Beyond, Superior Health Quality Alliance will cover how chronic health conditions can increase the risk of serious complications from certain vaccine-preventable diseases as patients can develop medical problems from diseases such as the flu, pneumococcal pneumonia and COVID-19 that may be long-term or difficult to treat. They will also discuss:

  • Why vaccines are important for those with chronic conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
  • Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) and its limitations.
  • Techniques for talking with patients about vaccines to encourage vaccine acceptance.
  • Understanding the current vaccine recommendations for influenza, pneumococcal and COVID-19.
