The presentation can be modified by nursing homes to provide up to date COVID-19 booster information. The content has been provided in everyday language to help facilities use a train the trainer approach to allow for resident and family council leaders to provide the education.
COVID-19 Therapeutics Action Plan
IPRO QIN-QIO developed the COVID-19 Therapeutics Action Plan to help nursing homes optimize COVID-19 treatment. The plan includes a template with goals, resources and sample Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles to assist in the initiation of the plan. There is also a focus on antiviral start time, National Institutes of Health guideline adherence, monitoring and dosing. A REDCap data collection tool is available to assist with data collection and reporting.

An urban nursing home in the Pacific Northwest was referred by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to Comagine Health, a CMS Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) for assistance with improving its resident COVID-19 bivalent booster rate. By implementing the interventions recommended by Comagine Health, the nursing home increased its resident COVID-19 bivalent booster rate by 53.9 percent from the time the facility was referred to the QIN-QIO and the last report to the National Healthcare Safety Network in January 2023.
