The Health Quality Innovation Network’s (HQIN) webinar, Addressing Disparities: Reducing Unnecessary Emergency Department Use, explored the drivers of unnecessary emergency department (ED) use through a disparity lens. Watch this session to learn how factors such as social needs, transition processes, medication management, and chronic conditions increase the likelihood of frequent ED visits.

During this session, participants learned how to:

  • Understand the current state of disparities in high ED utilization
  • Examine the impact of disparities on various drivers of high ED utilization: transition processes, social needs, medication management, and chronic conditions
  • Identify and apply methods of addressing the root causes of high ED utilization disparities.
