Driving Clinical Excellence Learning Series Part Five

Part five of this learning series, produced by Comagine Health, focuses on changing the narrative around change fatigue. Participants explored strategies to avoid and overcome change fatigue, assess readiness for change, and maintain continuity when leadership changes. The case study will highlight the potential impact of change on residents. Strategies presented in the session will be connected to elements for improving joy in work in support of staff satisfaction and retention.

  • Learning Session 5: In this session, users will:
    • Describe three elements/principles of high-reliability organizations and how to apply them in your setting
    • Identify two new strategies to mitigate change fatigue
    • Highlight one benefit of maintaining quality improvement continuity when leadership changes
  • Mastery Session 5A: In this session, users will:
    • Identify ways to recognize and address the impact of change fatigue on staff, residents, and family members to reduce the risk of negative effects on quality improvement efforts and the quality of care.
    • Examine strategies for building a culture that encourages feedback or input regardless of title or role.
    • Demonstrate how to use 15 minutes a day to address change fatigue and "joy in work."
  • Mastery Session 5B: In this session, users will:
    • Verbalize how teaching staff to do “positive leadership walkrounds” can positively impact change energy to reduce fatigue
    • Identify how to prioritize change efforts
    • Describe how to use the 15-minutes a day approach to reinforce what is going well and the solutions to address what could be better
