Self-measured blood pressure (SMBP) is the regular measurement of blood pressure by the patient outside the clinical setting, typically at home.

These training sessions provided by Superior Health Quality Alliance cover the benefits and techniques for SMBP and how to operationalize at-home measurements. This structured collaborative includes didactic presentations and time for collaborative members to share and learn from each other. The intended audience is clinics and health systems across Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin that are interested in developing a SMBP program. Objectives include:

  • Outline the purpose of an SMBP program and identification of eligible patient populations
  • Review techniques for accurate blood pressure measurement
  • Develop an SMBP model for clinical practice, including blood pressure monitor loaner programs.
  • Identify staff members to provide SMBP education to patients
